About NWTWC
Funded through the Department for Communities and Local Government from 2007 to March 2011, and supported by Stockport Council, North West Together We Can (NWTWC) was the Regional Empowerment Partnership for the North West. It was also a delivery partner for the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership and worked in partnership with Neighbourhoods North West.
As the Empowerment Network for the region, NWTWC supported community empowerment projects, stimulating collaborative learning, incisive research and highlighting best practice across the region. NWTWC built a strong reputation having an impact on service providers and communities alike in areas as diverse as rural Cumbria and inner city Manchester. It developed many excellent activities including an Empowerment Awards Programme, a series of Learning Exchange seminars and conferences, networks with community empowerment deliverers, and many publications of interest, all of which can still be seen on this site.
Unfortunately, NWTWC’s funding came to an end in April 2011. However, an opportunity arose to embed aspects of the NWTWC programme within the operations of the North West-based community engagement organisation, Our Life.
Our Life’s agreement with NWTWC represents a very important move, as it will enable some of the fantastic work achieved by NWTWC over the last four years to live on.
Our Life wants to ensure continued support for regional learning opportunities for everyone keen to explore issues around community empowerment and active citizenship.
In particular, Our Life want to ensure that NWTWC's networks remain supported, and that the Learning Exchange seminars and Community Empowerment Awards programme, continue to flourish.
To assist with this, Eve Davidson from NWTWC has joined Our Life as Network Manager. This will enable Our Life to build its profile with the NWTWC network of contacts and to strengthen Our Life's ability to become a leader around community empowerment work.
